Since its inception, Port Elgin Pumpkinfest has grown from a local contest into one of Ontario’s most celebrated festivals, attracting over 30,000 visitors annually and earning the title of a Top 100 Ontario Festival. We are more than just giant vegetables; we are a community tradition that drives tourism, economic growth, and local pride.
We are pleased to invite you to consider joining the Board of Directors for Port Elgin Pumpkinfest. Your leadership, community insight, and expertise would be invaluable as we guide one of Ontario's most beloved festivals into its next successful chapter.
The Board of Directors plays a crucial role in our success. They provide the strategic guidance that allows Pumpkinfest to fulfill its mission of driving tourism, celebrating our cultural heritage, and strengthening our community. Your background and perspective would bring significant value to our planning and initiatives.
Director Commitments
We value your time and expertise. The commitment for a Board Director is structured to be impactful yet manageable:
- Board Meetings: Directors attend 8 meetings per year. These sessions are focused on strategic planning, governance, and high-level decision-making.
- Committee Leadership: Each Director is expected to join or advise at least one operational committee. This allows you to apply your specific skills directly to areas such as logistics, sponsorship, entertainment, administration, volunteer management or new initiatives.
The Experience We Need
To maintain our standard of excellence and achieve our growth goals, we are looking for a diverse range of experience. While a passion for community is the only mandatory requirement, we are specifically seeking individuals with background in one or more of the following areas:
- Strategic Leadership: Previous board or executive experience.
- Sustainability Expertise: Can supply leadership and direction for the board to follow
- Event Planning & Logistics: Expertise in managing large-scale operations.
- Fundraising & Sponsorship: Ability to secure partnerships and grant funding.
- Community Engagement: Strong networks within Saugeen Shores and Bruce County.
- Marketing & Communications: Skills in promoting events and brand management.
- Financial Oversight: Experience with budgeting and fiscal responsibility.
